In a previous life I was a college radio DJ (90.7 KJHK forever!). I was there for about three years, starting with a 3–6am Saturday-morning indie-rock rotation slot, then moving to a much more humane 9am–noon show, Breakfast for Beatlovers. Later I had a jazz rotation show and an experimental/instrumental hip-hop show (Nocturne) with my friend Willie. After I moved for grad school I kept making mixes for a while, and even played out a time or two. The most notable to me was a show at Beat Research, a long-running night some friends ran at the Enormous Room, a bar in Central Square, Cambridge. It was not enormous, and it doesn’t even exist as such anymore. Good times! Eventually, making mixes and playing out fell by the wayside. Nearly a whole decade of tunes went by without one, which is the sort of thing grad school + postdoc + parenthood will do. That said, I’ve never stopped seeking out new music and making mixes to share what I find remains deeply satisfying.
This page is a running collection of all my recorded mixes. I’ll add to it when/if I make more. Tracklists are below each player where I still have them. A couple of the older ones I’ve lost the lists for, and while I can still recognize the songs, I can’t remember their details. Document your work! All of these were ripped, warped, and mixed with ❤️ in Somerville, MA.

slow thursday
Another night from the same promoter, in the same style — electronic and IDM-leaning. Tracklist long gone.
slow sunday
A one-off, also at the Enormous Room, but with a different promoter (whose name I’ve forgotten, sadly). Much slower and more electronic/IDM. I recognize most of it but can’t immediately place the tracks anymore, though it still feels great to listen to. Probably a local maximum in terms of polish and skill.
beat research
My set from BR — it starts with hip-hop and moves through IDM.
